Plush, electronic puppy acts like a real pup
Home › Interactive Pets
These are the pets that take up a lap. A tiger cub that grows into a roar, a pony that nods along to eighty sounds, a dinosaur that hops when it hears a treat coming. They sit at the top of the furReal family because they do the most: motion in the head and neck, sound that answers a touch, and a reaction that changes depending on where a hand lands.

A big furReal pet is one your child picks up with two hands. Most of this shelf sits between nine and fifteen inches, and the weight is deliberate — a pet that reacts needs a motor, a speaker and batteries, and those give it the heft of a sleeping cat.
The size buys you behaviour. On a small plush, a squeeze gives you one sound. On these, a squeeze on the cheek, a scratch behind the ear and a stroke down the back are three different conversations, and the pet keeps track of which one came last.
Every pet on this shelf pairs a voice with a movement. Cinnamon nods and whinnies. Peanut the Playful Monkey claps and chatters. Gabby grows from a cub purr to a full roar as she is fed and petted in the right order.
The reason we build both into one body is simple: a child reads a pet the way they read a friend. A sound on its own is a toy speaking. A sound with a turn of the head is a pet answering. That second thing is what keeps a pet in the room a year later.
Yes. Each one runs on batteries and most arrive with a demo set fitted. Put in fresh alkalines before the first proper play session — the demo cells are there to prove the pet works, not to see you through a month.
Every pet has a switch, usually tucked under the belly or behind the neck. Switched off, the pet goes quiet and becomes an ordinary plush animal to sleep beside.
Loud enough to be heard across a living room, not loud enough to carry through a closed door. There is no volume dial on most models, so the off switch is the quiet control.
Four and up on the box, and that is about right. The feeding and petting sequences reward a child who can follow two steps in order.
Strip the box away and a furReal pet is three things at once: a plush toy you can hug, a set of motions and sounds, and a small bundle of reactions that fire when a child does something. Feed it, and it chews. Brush it, and it leans in. Walk a furReal Walk-a-Lots puppy on its leash and it wags, barks and walks beside the shoe like a dog half its price in real vet bills.
Because the pet asks. A real toy that only receives attention gets put down; one that reacts keeps the conversation going. Watch a child enter the room, see the tail move, and sit down to play — that loop is the entire design, and it holds for months, not days.
The featured animals run wide: a tiger that roars, a silly hippo, a monkey, a panda turning end over end, a Poop-a-Lots pug, a kitty, a Bernedoodle. Handfuls pets fit in one palm, the big ones take a whole lap. Same idea, four sizes of it.
Nothing here snaps, bites or runs off. The motions are slow, the sounds are soft, and a pet in sleep mode will simply fall quiet until someone comes back. That gentleness is why these make good birthday presents for children who are not ready for responsibility with a heartbeat, and why parents keep buying a second one.
